iPad Drawings
Drawing on the iPad allowed me to explore ideas improvisationally. Choosing to draw only with my finger as opposed to a digital pen gave me freedom of movement and seemed more natural for my process. Starting from a meandering group of chicken scratches, these drawings became evolving journeys towards a resolution without preconception. I did not depend on the layering systems of digital drawing programs, but relied on my studio experience and drawing practice. Each drawing became a new discovery. Being partially color blind, I gravitated toward using RGB color mixtures of light, instead of the RYB of opacity preferred by painters. It was my way of finding color combinations with imagery. Also, by saving stages of the developing works, I became more aware of my patterns of thought.
